Story: Leaving...

i posted this awhile back but removed it cause it got personal... but here we go again:
-----------------------------------------
Billy stood outside, a light breeze gently combed through his light hair. His jaw was set tightly, brows creased together in a frown as he thought. This was not good. Not good at all.

He had just received a call from his ranking officer. He was leaving. For 2 years on some mission he hardly knew about, there was no excuse to back down.

Not in his job’s mind anyway.

Allie was the only reason he refused to leave.

Allie. He smiled as he pictured her. She was beautiful, even if she was very insecure about how she looked. Long red hair, cute little freckles dotting across her nose, and her eyes. Her eyes were why he fell in love with her. They were the most wonderful blue eyes he had ever seen.

She really had a heart for people. He could remember her making him bring homeless people home to give them a decent meal and a shower. Though he had always warned her to be careful, she had in turn always told him that she knew what she was doing and he didn’t need to worry about her.

But that’s what a fiance does.

That’s right. Not boyfriend or lover. Fiance. He had asked her to marry him 7 years ago. Right before she moved out of state. It was rare for preteen couples to still be with their sweethearts. But Billy and Allie where that nonexistant percent that made it. And it had looked like they would have been many more years to come…

If THIS didn’t happen.

Billy had involved himself in an organization 2 years ago. Allie wasn’t to thrilled about it, but somehow he had convinced her to let him join, and she had agreed reluctantly.

Now he wished he had never even heard the name of GIO.

He closed his eyes. Today was his and Allie’s 8th anniversary. What a wonderful gift to tell her he was leaving.

Billy was jerked out of his thoughts as two slim arms wrapped themselves around his waist from behind, Allie’s head resting against his shoulder. He smiled a little, but it was not content one.
“Happy Anniversary Billy.” She murmured in her soft voice.
Usually, her voice made odd flip-flops in his stomach. But today it was the most painful thing he had ever heard. He swallowed, hard. No time like the present. He was always a man who liked to get things done and over with.

“Allie, I-I have something to tell you…” He turned to face her. She smiled brightly at him, causing another sharp ache in his chest. Gods, he loved her so much.

“Besides ‘I love you’?” She teased. Billy smiled a little more. He wiped it away quickly. Allie stared at him, not liking how serious he had become so fast. He stared down at her before enveloping her in a tight embrace.

“I’m going away.” He said plainly.

Allie blinked one. Twice. She hugged him as tightly as he held her.

“Wh-what?” She couldn’t believe it, wouldn’t believe it. It was like someone had dumped ice water all over her body, it seeped into her very blood and crystalized.

“I’m going away.” He repeated again, but this time the words were forced.

“Why? Why are you going? Why now?” Allie wanted to cry, but no tears fell. Billy held her, kissing her forhead. ”I’m sorry love, Jack called me. I have to go.”

How the hell did we wind up like this? Why weren't we able, to see the signs that we missed and try turn the tables

Allie felt the tears slide down her cheeks. She knew this would happen. That’s why she said no two years ago, but Billy was just so eager then, he wanted it so much, so she agreed in the end. She regretted that now more then ever.

“Where are you going?” She managed to choke out, her emotions getting the best of her. She heard Billy sigh.” I don’t know. I don’t know anything yet.”

“How long will you be gone?”

“Two years.”

Allie buried her face in his chest. Why for so long? Her hands fisted the martial of his sweater. She hated this. She hated Billy for joined GIO. She hated GIO. She hated everything at that moment.

“Will you come back?” She whispered.

Billy had no answer for that. He closed his eyes.

“I hope so.”

I wish you'd unclench your fists, and unpack your suitcase
Lately there's been too much of this
But don't think it's too late

Allie looked up at him.” How can you say that?! You ‘hope so’?! It sounds like you won’t be coming back at all!”

Billy mentally winced. Why did this whole thing have to go so wrong? But he didn’t expect her to act any different.

“Because I don’t know if I will.” He wanted to, and screw the world if he didn’t because he would try his hardest to come back.

“Promise me.” He could tell Allie was more the upset, that’s how he expected her to act.

“I promise.”

Nothing's wrong, just as long as you know that someday I will

Allie rested her head back on his chest. She wanted them to remain like this. Forever. Billy wanted the same.

“When are you leaving?”

“In a few days.”

Allie nodded mutely. She had no other choice; she would have to support him through this, even if he wouldn’t be there to support her.

“Don’t get shot.”

Billy chuckled a little, hugging her closer.

Someday, somehow
I'm gonna make it all right but not right now
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that
Someday, somehow
I'm gonna make it all right but not right now
I know you're wondering when

Allie smiled softly. She loved his laugh. It was deep and welcoming to hear. She sniffled a little. Why did this have to happen?

Billy brushed her tears away.” Don’t be sad while I’m gone Allie, I hate it when your sad.”

Allie tried unsuccessfully to smile. “I’ll try not to.” And hell was due to freeze over at any day now. Billy smiled back. He led her inside the house.

Well I'd hope that since we're here anyway
That we could end up saying
Things we've always needed to say
So we could end up staying
Now the story's played out like this
Just like a paperback novel
Let's rewrite an ending that fits
Instead of a Hollywood horror

They sat down at the kitchen table. Her house was small, but cozy. Most of the house had been decorated by Allies mother. Cameron looked around, realizing just how much time he would never spend in this home. He reached over the table and held Allie’s hands. “Hey, I may be leaving, but that doesn’t mean this has to be such a horrible day. It is our anniversary after all.”

Allie nodded with a smile. That was her Billy, always thinking on the brighter side of things. ”Alright.”

Nothing's wrong, just as long as
You know that someday I will
Someday, somehow
I'm gonna make it all right but not right now
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that
Someday, somehow
I'm gonna make it all right but not right now
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that

Billy grinned at her. “Wait here. I’ll be right back.” He let go of her hands and ran downstairs to the car. Allie waited patiently, trying to push away the thought that in just a few days, her Billy wouldn’t be with her again.

Billy came back up with a box in hand. He sat back down and pushed it towards her. “Open it.” Allie gave him a suspicious look and he scratched the back of head bashfully. “It won’t bite I swear, go on, open it.” Allie smirked slightly in amusement and opened the box.

She took out a smaller box and opened it, gasping at what was inside.
A beautiful gold ring with a pink sapphire gem gleamed at her and he felt tears prick her eyes at their beauty.

“Billy…this is….wow…”

Billy grinned in turn. ”There's more inside.”

Allie put the ring on among the others that Billy had sent her over the years and dug around in the box for the other goodies inside.

She pulled out two tickets to a movie she had been absolutely dieing to see and a box of chocolates. ”Oh Billy!” She run around the other side of the table and enveloped him in a crushing hug. “Really now, you spoil me rotten!” Billy grinned goofishly. “I have one more present to give you too.” He whispered in her ear as he kissed her neck fondly.

She slapped his arm playfully. “Billy!”

He was still grinned as he let her go and once again ran downstairs.

Allie shook her head. What was she going to do about that man? Oh well, it wasn’t like she didn’t mind being so spoiled.

How the hell did we wind up like this?
Why weren't we able, to see the signs that we missed
And try to turn the tables
Now the story's played out like this
Just like a paperback novel

Instead of a Hollywood horror

Billy appeared again, hiding something behind his back. Allie raised an eyebrow at him and he motioned her to sit back at her own seat. She sat down as he sat back in his.

He cleared his throat very audibly and Allie rolled her eyes. So dramatic.

He presented her a red rose. She accepted it and smelled it. “One for our past. I know it wasn’t exactly the best, but I’m very lucky I met you.” Allie blushed slightly. There first meeting hadn’t exactly been terrific.

Allie had been best friends with his little brother, Brian, and they always feuded until their adolescent years.

Billy grinned and handed her another rose. “One for our present.” He paused before continuing. “That we will have the best of time together, though short, and that we will always remember it.” Alli licked her lips as she accepted this rose too. She blinked some tears away.

Nothing's wrong, just as long as
you know that someday I will

Billy smiled sadly as he presented her the last rose. “This one for our future. Because we will have one, despite what fate does to us.” Allie accepted this one too. He smiled at her, folding his arms on the table.

“I love you Allie.”

Allie smiled back at him, tears slowly sliding down her face.

“I love you too Billy.”

Someday, somehow
I'm gonna make it all right but not right now
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that
Someday, somehow
I'm gonna make it all right but not right now
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that)
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that
I know you're wondering when

The End
