Poem: Through My Eyes

Having traveled on a journey
Through thickets lush with pain
Meeting up with harsh reality
Standing soaking in the rain
Pressing onward only looking
For the sun to warm the days
To finally fine true happiness
Which would never fade away
At the crossroads finally reaching
Not knowing where to go
Which path to take to lead me towards
The dreams I wish to know
Lost within the tears I cry
You come and stand along my side
Taking my hand within your own
As my emotions I try to hide
You say I'm not the only one
Who is feeling what I do
In fact you say smiling bright
I in turn am much like you
Now knowing I was not alone
Along this troubled way
I look onto the road ahead
Not knowing what to say
Slowly now the sun it rises
Pushing forward soft blue skies
Lighting up a shadowed path
Never seen through tear filled eyes
Wiping away the crystal tears
From my softly blushing cheeks
I see the warmth and happiness
I've been searching for, for weeks
All it took was a tender heart
And a friend to finally say
You're not alone I'm here with you
I'll help you on your way
